Avoid theHonk.
Waterloo’s live AI-goose tracker.
Upload a photo, get an instant goose count, nesting and gosling detection, and aggression signals. Then check the live map before you walk.
How it works
Snap.Detect.Avoid.
Spot aggressive geese
Encountered geese blocking your path near Ring Road, EC5, SLC, or Laurier's Fred Nichols Quad? Upload a photo. Takes 10 seconds.
AI analyses and flags them
YOLOv8 detects and counts every goose in frame, draws bounding boxes, and assigns a severity level. A Gemini Vision pass then reads body posture, wing position, and flock composition to flag nesting behaviour, goslings, and active aggression signals.
Sightings hit the map
Once reviewed and approved, your sighting becomes a hotspot marker on the live campus map, visible to anyone checking before they walk through that area.
Walk around them
Check the map before you leave. See which paths are high-risk right now. Pick a quieter route. Arrive un-honked-at.
